Published in Ebony Magazine page 79 Sugar & Spice was a Chicago-based hosiery company that offered a range of pantyhose "designed with the Black female in mind." The company centered the needs of Black women, claiming to have developed a range of colors to complement darker skin tones and a level of sheerness "to let the beautiful you shine through." This advertisement celebrated the message of Black is beautiful. It is one in a series that ran in popular Black magazine Ebony in the 1970s. The bottom of this advertisement presents Sugar & Spice's range of pantyhose designs and packaging: "super sheer;" "ultra sheer;" "queen size;" "support;" "control top;" "day by day;" and "all in one." |
