Description |
Blue wooden box whose top is secured with a brass latch on the front; top of box lid has a list of all of the minerals in the set; box bottom has a silver cardboard insert with an 8x10 grid for mineral specimens; most specimens are freestanding, but one has a wooden container and one is in a corked glass test-tube; each specimen has a small white label with an identifying number; a drawer with one brass handle (one is missing) opens from the front of the case; drawer has three compartments divided by three blue wood pieces; right compartment has two rectangular pieces of rock, one white and one metallic-looking, for scratch tests; left compartments have a black cardboard box that houses two glass slides; two wire brushes; an alcohol lamp; a corked glass bottle of hydrochloric acid; three wooden chemical containers of charcoal, sodium carbonate, and sodium borate; and two paper packets of nichrome wire and zinc metal. |
