Engraving of "ascension de ballon le pole nord, au champ de mars, le 27 juin, voir le chronique" M. Desroches-Valnay Albert Tissandier (1839-1906) was a French architect, aviator, illustrator, editor and archaeologist. With his brother, Gaston Tissandier, he produced the French scientific journal "La Nature," an early magazine dedicated to the popularization of science. Alongside their experiments and adventures in hot-air ballooning, the brothers Tissandier demonstrated the first electric-powered flight of an early airship at an exposition in 1881, combining an electric motor with a dirigible. |
