Description |
Body of the instrument consists of a hollow, heavy gray aluminum casting, with large access ports on both sides and the front covered by thin steel plates, all finished in a heavy gray enamel; prism assembly, telescope tubes, scale adjustment wheel, dispersion wheel etc. all appear to be chrome plated brass, with the prism assembly gray enameled as well on its outside surfaces; both the prisms and the scale are provided with built-in electric illumination; this illumination is provided by a small light which is attached to a movable arm; prism compartment can be opened and closed; two telescope viewing devices jut out from the slanted casing top; above them is a metal handle for carrying the device; at the bottom of the slant are two switches (one is the on/off switch); an electrical chord protrudes from the bottom side of the casing above the arms; on the other side is a large crank/dial which turns the prism/sample area. |
