Description |
Wooden rectangular box secured with a latch (broken off) on front side; back side has two hinges, one of which is broken off; inside top of box has an off-white cardboard insert (now detached) with black strings to secure the following components: one wire brush, three clear glass tubes, one clear glass test-tube, one metal (brass?) blow pipe, and three (3) orange paper packets of nichrome wire, blank test paper, and filter paper; box bottom six wooden shelves; the bottom shelf space is empty; the next shelf has a cardboard insert with slits that secure a metal scooper and orange paper packets of litmus paper, sulfide test paper, and congo red paper; on each side of the insert are black plastic cases that house an alcohol lamp and a glass bottle of phenolphthalein (now empty); the top four rows of shelves house 36 wooden containers of chemicals or mineral specimens; nine (9) containers are on each row; the first row contains: anthracite coal, copper stone, oil shale, talc, graphite, quartz, feldspar, bituminous coal, and mixed dyes; the second row has the following: zinc... [label torn], ferrous ammonium sulfate, sodium thiosulfate, copper metal, aluminum sulfate, sulfur, magnesium sulfate, starch, and ammonium chloride; the third row contains the following: azurite, iron sulfide, strontium chloride, tannic acid, sodium phosphate, sodium bicarbonate, powdered iron metal, and sodium ferrocyanide; the fourth row contains the following: sylvite and halite, nickel ammonium sulfate, manganese sulfate, powdered charcoal, calcite, dogwood, sodium borate, apatite, and asphalt. |
