Description |
A: Ainsworth Chain Balance, Model DLB. Square black iron frame; glass panels on front, back, sides, and top; front and back panel slides up and down, front has a small metal handle; brass button and knob on the front adjust the balance; four adjustable metal feet on bottom; inside the balance is a vertical brass support with metal beam and a small brass arm extending from right side; beam supports a long needle with red tip that reaches a white scale on the floor of the interior; sides of arm can sit in a black metal clamp that extends from side; two metal pans are suspended from each end of the beam; a vertical black scale on a copper base stands upright in front of the balance; smaller black scale is on left side of larger, both are adjustable; small metal container holds gold chain, and rider; large drawer in front pulls out B: Paper box containing two extra pan supports C: paper envelope containg 2 glass weights D: Envelope containing documents found in drawer |
