Description |
In this fanciful scene of an alchemist's workroom, a bespectacled alchemist leans over to examine the contents of a bubble-like glass receiver. At left, an enormous alembic sits distilling over a furnace, extending a long glass tube for the receipt of its vapors. The humble, plain room and the alchemist's coarse, ill-fitting robe provide an atmosphere of hermetic simplicity. |
