Description |
Finished wooden box whose top is secured with a brass latch on the front; top of box lid has a list of all of the minerals in the set; box bottom has a silver cardboard insert with an 8x10 grid for mineral specimens; most specimens are freestanding, but two are in corked glass test-tubes; each specimen has a small white label with an identifying number; a drawer with a brass handle opens from the front of the case; drawer has three compartments divided by three wood pieces; right compartment has two booklets; top left panel has the following tools: white rectangular scratch-test rock; three paper packets of nichrome wire (2) and sulfide test paper; two glass stir rods; one piece of glass tubing; black plastic magnifying glass with extra lens; magnet; brass rod-like instrument with a wooden cork slid around its middle; three empty glass test-tubes; and various unsorted rocks/minerals; bottom left compartment has nine wooden chemical containers; five chemical containers are labeled "Unknown A, B…E" and four have the following chemicals in them: charcoal, zinc, sodium carbonate, and sodium borate; compartment also has two yellow cardboard boxes of charcoal lumps and a small mortar and pestle set (iron?). |
