Description |
Hand painted postcard. Front: Postcard featuring a hand-drawn illustrated depiction of a flying boat. The illustration is based on the design proposed by Italian mathematician, naturalist, and aeronautics pioneer Francesco Lana de Terzi (1631-1687) in a 1670 publication. This postcard is part of a set originally collected in a scrapbook entitled Album Gravures et Cartes-Postales: Vieux Paris Types Petits Métiers et Cris De La Rue (1909). Verso: Addressed to (stamped): "Monsieur Louis DASPET / 177, Rue Saint-Honore, 177 / PARIS"; correspondence (handwritten): "octobre 1909 / carte originale / histoire du / Ballon" (October 1909 / original card / history of the balloon) |
