Description |
White metal (aluminum?) case that is secured with a metal latch; once opened, the top of case is the right panel of a three-panelled set; the middle of the case (box bottom) has a blue cardboard insert with indentations to secure a microscope; the microscope is made almost entirely of plastic; the viewing piece is black plastic; the base and arm are gray plastic, the five turrent lens piece is detachable and is made of white plastic; the yellow plastic slide base is also detachable and has a metal clip on the top and a black plastic holder for a white bulb on the bottom; a white electrical plug comes out of the base bottom; a rectangular mirror with light gray plastic casing can be plugged into a circular hole on the microscope base; microscope comes with an extra bulb; the right panel has a yellow plastic insert with two storage areas; bottom storage area has a test-tube holder with black plastic supports and white metal shelves; holder has two empty glass test-tubes, a glass pipette with a black rubber top, a test-tube of ammonium chloride with a cork stopper, a test-tube of diatomaceous earth with a cork stopper, and a test-tube of methylene blue stain with a cork stopper; the top storage area has a white cardboard insert with slits to hold the following: a card with three plastic bubbles holding three different type of fly specimens, a slide with the following specimens: sponge, silverbary scaly hair, lily pollen, and bamboo stem, and a cardboard box (now empty) for shrimp hatchery components; the left panel has a yellow plastic insert with various rectangular indentations for the following pieces: a paper envelope with two glass slides, a plastic "viewing tank" to view specimens, a slide with the following specimens: a spciule of a sea cucumber, a diatom, a moss scale, and an abalone shell, a cardboard box with two glass test-tubes, a set of stainless steel tweezers, a black plastic stir rod/sifter, a glass bottle of powdered iron with a purple lid, a plastic package with a butterfly and two leaves, and eight small rectangular cardboard boxes with the following: cover glass, feathers, lens cleaners, slide labels, fiberous specimens, scales, labels, and cover slips; set also comes with the following paper materials: "Anatomy of the Bee" poster, "Secrets of Nature" manual, "The World of Protozoa" poster, "Use of the Microscope" paper, a postcard to join the Lionel-Porter Science Club, and the Sears Senior Microscope Manual. |
