Grandville (1803 - 1847) Eugène-Hippolyte Forest (1808 - ?) ) chez Aubert glaerie vero dodat L. de Becquet, rue furstemberg, N.° 6 France This caricature portrays a carved wooden toy with a side hand crank. The crank turns to move two wooden soldiers/National Guardsmen back and forth along parallel slots. They "march" in front of General Lobau, who holds his clyster across his chest. Behind the toy on either side at a distance are two Paris buildings. Right next to/behind Lobau is the Place Vendome Column, which resembles the clyster in his hands. |
