Description |
Blue wooden rectangular box secured with a latch on the front side; box lid has black strings that secures the following components: two clear glass beakers, a wax candle, a metal scooper, six glass tubes, a brass blow pipe, three blue paper packets of nichrome wire, sulfide test paper, and zinc metal, and two glass test-tubes with corks with cobalt chloride (empty) and manganese dioxide; there are also black strings on each side of the listed components to secure product manual and user notebook; above the components is an enumerated list of the minerals included in the set; box bottom has eighty (80) specimens arranged in an 8x10 grid of individual spaces; two (2) of the specimens are in wooden containers and one (1) is in a small glass test-tube with a cork top; the rest (77) are standard rock/mineral specimens; to the right of the grid are indentations for the following components: three wooden containers with blue and white labels of sodium carbonate, powdered charcoal, and sodium borate, a metallic mortar and pestle set, a magnet, a charcoal lamp in a yellow cardboard box, a white smooth rock slab (possibly to test mineral colors), a glass bottle with a rubber cork top of hydrochloric acid, an alcohol lamp, a test-tube of turmeric paper secured with a wooden cork, and two pieces shaped like slabs of an unknown mineral specimen. |
