"Basse Cour Politique" [Political Barnyard] N° 91 of the pair N° 90 et 91, issue no. 45, 8 September 1831, On s'abonne chez Aubert, Galerie véro dodat, Lith. De Delaporte, rue de l'Abbaye N.O 4 France This is the right side of a double lithograph. Written below each caricature are tongue-in-cheek names of barnyard characters. Each character is identified in a book published in 1987 by the Musee des Baux-Arts, Nancy, Grandville: Dessins Orginaux, p. 240-41. Two uniformed figures: one pigeon-head, chest puffed out, holding a bouqet of flowers; behind and leaning forward a similarly uniformed officer bows, his head obscured by the large puffy hat of the other, almost as if they share a head. In the middle-background, figures burst through a door, the tri-color flag hangs from a spear. In front is a bear wearing a green uniform with a green and red hat; behind him are eagles heads dressed in uniforms of which only the epaulets are clearly articulated. To the center is antoehr bird dressed in a unform, sitting/attached to a pole. To the right of him is a group of birds, rabbits, uniformed, sitting on a mound of hay. To the right is a dog(?) dressed in uniform with a chain around his neck, stepping out of a house. Figures from Left to Right: 14. député libéral parmi les 221 [liberal representative amongst the 221] Augustin Jean-Marie, baron de Schoen (1782-1849) The Address 221 was when the representatives voted to disown King Charles X 15. (Montalivet joined promptly the July Monarchy during the July Revolution of 1830 and was called to the Ministry of the Interior in November, where his main task was to prevent any troubles during the trial of the former ministers of King Charles X.) 18.
