Provenance |
A spectrometer like this was mounted aboard the NASA satellite Nimbus 7 and took over 250,000 separate ozone measurements a day in the early 1980s. These measurements showed an enormous and unexpected hole in the ozone layer. This data confirmed what seemed like an incredible set of measurements taken from the ground. There were only 5 TOMS units ever built. |
